2020—2023 Strategic Initiatives

The Idaho Library Association is committed to expanding and serving its membership base across the next three years by focusing its energy, volunteer personnel and resources on five primary strategic initiatives.

• Increase Idaho Library Association Membership (125—500) & Promote Greater ILA Member Engagement
•  Promote and Actively Manage the Idaho Library Association Culture of Collaboration & Professional Development
• Develop, Implement and Maintain the Idaho Library Virtual Communication Network
• Advocate With, and On Behalf of, the Idaho Library Community
• Implement and Maintain the new Idaho Library Association Organizational Paradigm
• Seek and Secure the Resources to Ensure the Work of the Idaho Library Association is Fiscally Sustainable

2020—2023 Strategic & Operational Initiatives

The five multi-year Strategic Initiatives are realized by the pursuit and implementation of several Operational Initiatives that complement each Strategic Initiative.  Those Operational Initiatives include, but are not limited to:

• Increase Idaho Library Association Membership (125—500) & Promote Greater ILA Member Engagement
• Prepare & Conduct more Intentional Statewide Membership Campaign  (2020/Annually)
• Develop & Promote Statewide Institutional Membership Campaign  (2021/Annually—Library membership inclusive of staff)
• Promote and Actively Manage the Idaho Library Association Culture of Collaboration & Professional Development
• Promote Statewide Conference, Regional Events and Affinity Cohorts
• Develop, Implement and Maintain the Idaho Library Association Virtual Communication Network
• Secure the Services of a Part-time ILA Communications Manager (Stipend TBD) (2022)
• Actively Recruit, Manage and Expand Listserv and Affinity Group Participation (2021)
• Advocate With, and on Behalf of, the Idaho Library Community
• Contract with an experienced legislative liaison to monitor and advocate for library legislation (2020/Annually)
• Provide professional development opportunities that build the capacity of ILA members to advocate for libraries (2021/Annually)
• Communicate about legislative issues on a regular basis to ILA members (2021/Annually)
• Implement and Maintain the new Idaho Library Association Organizational Paradigm
• Governance and Operations Dimensions (2020 Steering Committee)
• Secure the Services of a Part-time ILA Operations Manager (Stipend TBD 2021)
• Seek and Secure the Resources to Ensure the Work of the Idaho Library Association is Fiscally Sustainable
• Maintain Reserve of $30,000 (2021)
• New Operating Budget of $75,000--$100,000 (2021)
• Organizational Structure Reconstitution to 501c3 Status (Receive more charitable donations 2021)
• Establish Development Team to seek and secure funding (2021)
